4 Tips that will keep your winter electric bill down

TIP #1- Reverse your ceiling fan blades.

Most of you may have heard the phrase “hot air rises and cold air sinks”, your ceiling fan has a switch that controls the direction of blades. In the wintertime, it should turn clockwise direction, while in the winter, it should turn counterclockwise.

TIP #2 - Turn down your thermostat

There is no reason for your thermostat to be on when you are out of the house. You should also think about “Smart Thermostat”, it can be controlled remotely which can add some comfort and a better lifestyle for your savings.

TIP #3 - Add Insulation

Check the recommended R-value at the “Us Department Of Energy”, if you lack insulation, make sure to add some. You can do it yourself or contact a local contractor to help you with your project.

TIP #4 - Check your weather-stripping.

If your weather-stripping is worn, the outside temperature can enter your interior space (big waste of money). Check your weather-stripping condition and address it as needed.
